Two people have died after a small aircraft crashed into the terrace of a residential home in Korschenbroich, western Germany, on Saturday. The crash occurred around noon near the city of Mönchengladbach, close to the Dutch border.
The aircraft, piloted by a 71-year-old woman, struck the terrace of the house before igniting a fire that caused significant damage to the property. Authorities confirmed that the pilot was among the deceased, while the identity of the second victim remains under investigation. Officials are working to determine whether the second individual was aboard the aircraft or on the ground when the crash occurred.

The aircraft had taken off earlier that morning from Alkersleben, near the eastern German city of Erfurt, and was en route to Mönchengladbach Airport, which is located just under four kilometers (2.5 miles) from the crash site. According to police, the pilot had reported technical difficulties shortly before the incident.

Three people were registered as residents of the home struck by the aircraft. Two of them were not present at the time of the crash and later checked in with local authorities.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire and secure the area. Investigators are continuing to examine the wreckage and flight data to determine the exact cause of the crash.
