A shooting at the Las Vegas Athletic Club on the city’s west side Friday afternoon left two people dead—including the gunman—and at least three others injured, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
Gunfire broke out inside the popular fitness center, resulting in one person being fatally shot on-site. The suspect, who was armed with a gun, fled the building but was confronted and shot by responding officers just outside the gym. He later died at a local hospital.

Three additional individuals were injured in the shooting and transported to nearby hospitals. Police reported that one of the victims remains in critical condition.
Undersheriff Andrew Walsh confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public, and the incident is under active investigation. Authorities have not released the identity of the shooter or provided a motive for the attack.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos as gymgoers scrambled for safety. Claudio Vigani, who was working out when the shooting began, recounted, “They said ‘Get out, get out, get out,’ then I saw the dead guy next to the machine.”
Another witness, Gary Steward, narrowly avoided being at the center of the violence. He and a companion were en route to the gym but decided to make a quick stop at a nearby nutrition store—an action he believes may have saved their lives. “If we hadn’t stopped, we’d have been right at the front desk where the shooter came in,” Steward said. As they approached the gym, they saw shattered glass and immediately fled back to the parking lot.
The Las Vegas Athletic Club was closed for the remainder of the day as investigators processed the scene and gathered witness accounts.
