Two Students of Kogi Poly killed by Generator fumes

Two students from Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, tragically passed away after being exposed to fumes from a generator positioned near the window of their apartment overnight. SP William Ovye Aya, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed this heartbreaking incident.


The deceased have been identified as 20-year-old Bilikisu Eleojo and Ibrahim Haliru. According to Aya, the victims fell asleep and succumbed to the toxic fumes before dawn. Their lifeless bodies were discovered in the room by concerned neighbors in the early hours of Thursday.


Aya provided further details, stating, "There were three students from Kogi State Polytechnic inside the room: Bilikisu Tijani Eleojo, 20 years old; Ibrahim Haliru; and Mercy Ojochegbe. When they fell asleep in their room, a generator was turned on near the window of their apartment. They all fell asleep and were exposed to carbon monoxide from the generator."


"Bilikisu Tijani Eleojo and Ibrahim Haliru were found deceased by neighbors who made the grim discovery in the morning, while Mercy Ojochegbe, who was still breathing, was promptly rushed to the hospital."

"The incident was reported at the ‘B’ Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Lokoja, and investigations are currently underway."
