A woman has been arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command for the alleged murder of her co-wife’s three-month-old son. The suspect, identified as Zaliha Shuaibu of Malari Village in Soba Local Government Area, is accused of fatally injuring the infant at the shared residence of both wives.
Police investigations revealed that the baby’s mother, Maryam Ibrahim, had briefly stepped out to use the restroom, leaving her son unattended in her room. Upon returning, she discovered Zaliha holding the infant, who was foaming at the mouth and had a neck injury. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Zaliha was taken into custody immediately following the baby’s death. During interrogation, she confessed to the killing and implicated Lawal Muhammad, the husband’s younger brother, who allegedly supplied the acid used in the attack. Both suspects are now facing prosecution.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad assured the public that “justice will be served” and that all individuals implicating in the crime will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
