The Nigeria Army's 63 Brigade has uncovered an illegal gun factory in Onicha Olona community, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, Commander of the 63 Brigade, revealed that the factory had the capacity to produce ten guns per week.

"Eight suspects involved in the family business, including the mastermind, his father, mother, and sister, were arrested at the site," he said.

The illegal arms factory, located in a forest, was equipped with surveillance posts, a generator connected remotely, an iron melting oven, and a cache of arms and ammunition.

"We have also recovered materials used for manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs), including shrapnels, detonators, and containers," Unachukwu added.

He emphasized that the suspects' activities significantly contributed to insecurity in the region and the nation at large.

"In this area, only IPOB and Eastern Security Networks use improvised explosive devices and even drones," he noted. "The main suspect, 22-year-old Emmanuel Eboka, confessed to renting some of the arms to criminal elements for a fee."

The discovery follows the Delta State Police Command's rescue of four kidnapped victims in the forests of Orerokpe community in Okpe Local Government Area last September.
