Bodybuilding star and fitness influencer Hayley McNeff has died unexpectedly at the age of 37. Her family confirmed that she passed away peacefully on August 8, describing her in an obituary as a “bright light” who “left the world too soon.”
Known for her quick wit, humor, and ability to make others feel welcomed, McNeff was celebrated for her energy, determination, and drive to accomplish any goal she set. Her family highlighted her deep friendships and the lasting relationships she nurtured throughout her life. The cause of her death has not been disclosed.
McNeff rose to prominence in the bodybuilding scene during the mid-2000s, claiming the first-place title at the 2009 East Coast Classic and later appearing in the bodybuilding documentary Raising The Bar.

Tributes have poured in from the fitness community. Retired bodybuilder Dave Palumbo expressed his sadness, remembering her as “a good soul, super intelligent, and with tremendous potential as a bodybuilder.” Friend and fellow athlete Maryann Amerault shared memories of their friendship, recalling how they first met at the Arnold Sports Festival and later lived together in Las Vegas in 2010. She described McNeff as an “old soul” who was extroverted, blunt, funny, and kind-hearted, with an unmatched ability to deliver a perfect most muscular pose on command.
McNeff’s last social media post was in May, a throwback photo from 2019. In recent years, her online presence featured workout content and gym routines. Her death follows the recent losses of Spanish bodybuilding star Lorena Blanco, who died from a suspected heart attack, and powerlifting champion Christina Bitner, who passed away just three days after her 41st birthday.
