A 14-year-old boy who was abducted in 2017 has been found safe and well after his case was highlighted on Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries.
Abdul Aziz Khan was kidnapped in Atlanta, Georgia, seven years ago. Authorities in Colorado confirmed they found him safe late last month.
Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a reported burglary on February 23 and found two children sitting in a car in the driveway. Inside the home, two individuals had allegedly broken in, prompting the homeowner to call 911 after spotting them on surveillance cameras.

Deputies confronted the two children and soon after encountered a man and woman exiting the home, who initially claimed they were associated with a realtor. However, their story quickly fell apart.
Following a four-hour investigation, authorities identified the suspects as Rabia Khalid, 40, and Elliot Blake Bourgeois, 42. They also confirmed that one of the children was Khan and that Khalid, his mother, had been wanted for felony kidnapping.
Khalid had an active warrant for her arrest and was charged with second-degree kidnapping, along with other offenses. Bourgeois was also arrested, with both suspects booked into the Douglas County Jail on charges including forgery, identity theft, providing false information to authorities, and trespassing. Their bond was set at $1,000,000 each.

Khan was placed into protective custody, while the identity of the second child was not disclosed.
His family released a statement expressing relief and gratitude:
"We’re overwhelmed with joy that Aziz has finally been found. We want to thank everyone for their support over the last seven years. We specifically want to recognize the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for their exceptional work in solving this case. Now, as we navigate the next steps, we ask for privacy so that we can move forward as a family and heal together."
Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly praised the deputies' diligence in solving the case:
"What initially seemed like a routine trespass call led to the safe recovery of a child who had been missing for seven long years."

According to the U.S. Marshals Office, Khalid disappeared with Khan in November 2017 after a prolonged custody dispute with his father, Abdul Khan. As legal proceedings indicated she was set to lose custody, she fled with her son and new husband, Bourgeois.
The case gained renewed attention after being featured on Unsolved Mysteries. Authorities credited the documentary, along with tips from the public, for helping bring Khan home.
U.S. Marshal Enix Smith III commended those involved in the boy’s recovery:
"This significant development follows a lengthy seven-year search. I extend my sincere gratitude to all involved, especially the authorities in Douglas County for their swift and effective actions. We also thank NCMEC, Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries, and Crimestoppers GNO for shining a light on this case."
