Two Brazilian nuns have become internet sensations after an impromptu beatboxing and dance performance during a live Catholic television broadcast. Sisters Marizele Cassiano and Marisa de Paula, members of the Copiosa Redenção congregation, surprised viewers on Brazil’s Eternal Father TV channel during a discussion about an upcoming vocational retreat.
As they spoke about a song related to being called to religious life, the sisters stood up and broke into a lively routine that included singing, beatboxing, and synchronized dance moves. The segment quickly turned into a viral moment when the show’s host, Deacon Giovani Bastos, joined in, matching Sister Marisa’s energetic choreography.

Sister Marizele, who led the beatboxing, said the moment was completely unplanned. “That moment was very spontaneous, because with Sister Marisa, if you start a beat, she will dance. And I’m used to singing and beatboxing, so for us it was very simple, spontaneous, and at the same time very surprising to see that it went viral even outside Brazil.”
Both sisters are actively involved in helping young people recover from drug addiction, using music as a form of outreach and healing. “Beatboxing, dancing, and the songs themselves are tools that God uses to reach the hearts of the people we work with. And it works! It’s beautiful to see,” Sister Marizele said.
While Sister Marisa does not have a social media presence, Sister Marizele has gained over 100,000 followers on Instagram since the clip went viral. In addition to their work with at-risk youth, the sisters also serve as vocation promoters, organizing retreats for women exploring a calling to religious life.
