Actress Genevieve Chenneour, best known for her role as Clara Livingston in the third season of Bridgerton, bravely fought off a violent phone-snatching attempt at a coffee shop in London’s upscale Kensington district — an incident that left her concussed and traumatized.
The February 8 attack occurred at a Joe & the Juice café, where 27-year-old Chenneour was seated with a friend and her dog when notorious London offender Zacariah Boulares, 18, attempted to steal her phone. Surveillance footage shows Boulares, dressed in black and a navy baseball cap, sneaking up behind Chenneour moments after his accomplice exited the table.

The trained former Team GB artistic swimmer sprang into action as Boulares grabbed her phone, blocking his escape and forcing him to drop the device. A physical altercation followed, with Boulares grappling with her friend while Chenneour retrieved her phone — leaving customers in shock.
Chenneour later revealed on social media that Boulares’ accomplice threatened to stab her “multiple times” during the attack. “That was the moment something took over me and the physical fight became life or death in my mind,” she wrote in an Instagram Story. She added that watching footage of the incident still gives her chills.
Her dog, a Maltipoo, was visibly distressed during the struggle. “My poor baby was screaming and barking,” she shared. “I now have a major issue with people touching me in front of him thanks to these c---s.”

Despite the dramatic nature of the incident, Chenneour stated that police released the accomplice without charge due to lack of evidence. “The man that threatened to stab me will not be going to court,” she said. “I know karma will get him.”
In an earlier interview, Chenneour recounted the lingering trauma, saying, “I was left with a concussion just before the Screen Actors Guild Awards and since then, I’ve felt constantly on edge. Even my dog was traumatized — now, if anyone touches me, he panics and tries to protect me.”
She also praised the staff at Joe & the Juice for their swift assistance during and after the incident.

Boulares, an Algerian national with a long criminal history, has previously served time for a violent robbery involving Welsh singer Aled Jones, during which Boulares threatened to behead the singer and stole his $23,000 Rolex watch. He was 16 at the time and sentenced to 24 months, but released after 14.
Now charged in connection with the attack on Chenneour and another café customer, Boulares has pleaded guilty. He was identified through CCTV footage captured at the scene and is set to be sentenced on June 17.

Reflecting on the attack, Chenneour said, “That moment is a blur of survival. And to know that Boulares had previously walked the street with a machete makes me realize how serious this threat was.”
“London has become increasingly dangerous, and this cannot be normalized. I’m not just speaking for myself — I’m speaking for every person who’s had enough.”
