Chioma Okoli: Erisco Foods yet to reveal Nigerians killed by tomato paste importers – Inibehe Effiong

Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has criticized Erisco Foods for failing to disclose the list of Nigerians allegedly killed by a tomato paste cabal, as previously asserted by the company's owner, Eric Umeofia.
Effiong expressed his viewpoint on Sunday through his verified social media handle, affirming that justice will prevail in due time.

The lawyer shared purported screenshots of articles where Umeofia made these claims, dating back to March 2015 and reiterated in July 2016.
"In March 2015, he made this assertion, and again in July 2016. Yet, there has been no disclosure of the individuals purportedly harmed by the tomato paste cabal or importers," Effiong stated alongside the screenshots.
These comments arise amidst growing calls from Nigerians to boycott Erisco products due to the company's ongoing legal actions against a reviewer, Chioma Okoli.
Okoli drew attention when she posted a negative review of Erisco Tomato Paste on social media. In response, the CEO of Erisco Foods threatened a N5 billion lawsuit against her.
Despite Okoli's public apologies, Umeofia declared on national television his intention to persist with legal action against her. A viral video depicts Okoli in tears over the company's legal pursuit.
According to Effiong, Okoli's legal counsel, the Inspector General of Police has filed a cybercrime charge against her.
"We remain steadfast in our pursuit of justice. No amount of bravado or intimidation will deter us. We refuse to succumb to pressure. Those advising us to relent should cease their efforts," Effiong reiterated.
