Shimite Winifed, a prominent aide to Delta State Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, has tragically passed away. Her death was officially confirmed in a statement released on Monday by the office of the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, stating that she died in the early hours of April 21, 2025.
Until her death, Winifed served as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Export. She was well known across Delta State and beyond for her contributions to policy development, trade facilitation, and women’s empowerment in the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) space. Her influence extended into financial literacy, reputation management, public speaking, and export entrepreneurship.

Reports indicate that her death may have resulted from a case of domestic violence, allegedly following a confrontation with her husband, Pastor David Favour. While details surrounding the incident remain unclear, the Nigeria Police in Asaba have arrested Pastor Favour in connection with her death as investigations continue.
Tributes have poured in across social platforms, with many describing Winifed as intelligent, articulate, and passionate about progress in governance and business development. One tribute read: “This is sad. Woke up with the news of Chief Shimite Love’s demise. She was a beautiful woman with brains — a politician, policy maker, MSME expert, and export advisor. I once invited her to my event and she was top-notch. We’ll definitely miss her. My condolence to her family.”
Winifed’s death has sparked widespread grief and calls for stronger actions against domestic violence in Nigeria.
