Dismissed soldier arrested for alleged armed robbery in Abuja
The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) arrested a dismissed soldier and another individual for alleged armed robbery in Abuja's Gwarimpa area. Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh disclosed this during a media briefing in Abuja.
The arrest followed a distress call from Blessing Mafulul Damia and Haliru Zakari, reporting that they were trailed and robbed by men in an unregistered Toyota Hilux from H-Medix, Gwarimpa to Gishiri village.
Police operatives apprehended the suspects, including the dismissed soldier, and recovered a Toyota Hilux, a jack knife, and military accoutrements.
Additionally, the command arrested a suspect who faked his own arrest. The suspect's family reported his alleged arrest, prompting an investigation that led to his arrest in a hotel in Abuja's Lokogoma area.
Another arrest involved a male and female suspect who faked the kidnapping of the female to extort money from her husband. The husband paid a ransom of ₦2 million before discovering the truth, leading to the suspects' apprehension and recovery of stolen items.
All suspects will face charges following investigations.
