The surprising news came during a recent interview where Eddie Murphy revealed that his 35-year-old son Eric quietly married 29-year-old Jasmin in an intimate ceremony. “Actually, they got married, like, two weeks ago,” Murphy said, noting there was no elaborate wedding celebration. “They went off and they got married at the church. They just had the two of them and the preacher. They had a quiet little thing. So, I think we'll have like a big party or something.”

The low-key wedding means Martin Lawrence won’t be footing the bill for a grand event, something Murphy joked about previously. “Martin doesn’t have to pay for that big wedding now,” he quipped, referencing an earlier lighthearted comment that Lawrence would be responsible for the wedding costs.

Eric and Jasmin announced their engagement on November 27, 2024, with a romantic video posted to Instagram. The proposal featured a rose-filled room lit by candles and decorated with a red heart. Eric got down on one knee, and Jasmin tearfully accepted. Their joint caption read: “11.27.2024. We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter ❤️❤️.”

Murphy has previously shared his positive feelings about the couple, calling them “beautiful” and saying they “look amazing together.” He even joked about the comedic potential of their future children. “Everybody’s like, ‘Is that baby gonna be funny?’ Our gene pool is gonna make this funny baby,” Murphy said. “If they ever get married and have a child, I am expecting the child to be funny.”
