Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis accepted the resignation of her top deputy, Nathan Wade, after their romantic relationship raised concerns of a conflict of interest in prosecuting the criminal case against Donald Trump and his allies over election tampering in Georgia.

The resignation came following a judge's ruling that the relationship created a distraction, prompting either Willis or Wade to step down. This decision ensures Willis can lead the prosecution against Trump without delays or disruptions.

Judge Scott McAfee's ruling stopped short of disqualifying Willis from the case but criticized the handling of the relationship. Despite this, the case led by Willis's office remains ongoing among the numerous legal challenges Trump faces.

Trump commented on the resignation, calling it "BIG STUFF" on his Truth Social platform.
