FCT Police rescues 12 children abducted from Nasarawa
The FCT Police Command announced on Saturday that they successfully intercepted an attempt to traffick 12 children who had been abducted from Nasarawa state. The children, aged between 5 and 16 years old and hailing from Akwanga LGA, Nasarawa State, were being transported in a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number APP 489 XE by one Muhammad Isah of Kafanchan, Kaduna. The destination was later revealed to be in Ogun state for child trafficking purposes.
According to SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer, operatives of the FCT Police Command's Rapid Response Squad 74 (RRS 74) made the interception at approximately 12:55 am on Friday, 09/02/2024. Further investigation revealed that the children were being trafficked by Pastor Simon Kado and Jesse Simon Kado, who are currently in police custody.
While investigations continue and efforts are made in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Police Command to reunite the victims with their families, CP Benneth Igweh, the Commissioner of Police FCT, emphasized that the safety of residents remains the top priority.
