A former Miss Universe contestant has died from severe injuries sustained in a freak road accident in Russia involving a collision with an elk.
Kseniya Alexandrova, 30, suffered traumatic brain injuries when the large animal crashed through the windshield of her Porsche Panamera while she was traveling with her husband in Tver Oblast on July 5. The elk reportedly jumped into the road and collided with the vehicle, shattering the windshield and striking Alexandrova, who was seated in the front passenger seat.

Her husband, who survived the crash, said the collision happened in a split second and there was no time to react. The impact caused the elk’s legs to enter the car, striking Alexandrova in the head and leaving her unconscious with serious head injuries. She was immediately hospitalized and placed in a medically induced coma.

After more than a month in critical condition, Alexandrova died on August 15. Her modeling agency confirmed the death, noting that the former beauty pageant contestant never regained consciousness.
Alexandrova was Vice-Miss Russia in 2017 and went on to represent her country at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant in Las Vegas. She and her husband had married just four months prior to the accident.
