A Lebanese migrant apprehended while attempting to cross the border has confessed to being a member of Hezbollah.

His chilling admission included plans to construct a bomb, with New York as his intended destination.

Basel Bassel Ebbadi, 22, was apprehended by border patrol near El Paso, Texas, on March 9. During his detention, he candidly stated, “I’m going to try to make a bomb,” as documented by the Border Patrol. Ebbadi revealed that he had undergone seven years of training with Hezbollah and had served as an active member safeguarding weapons locations for an additional four years, according to internal ICE records. His training focused on “jihad” and targeting non-Muslim individuals.

The surge in migrants with terror watchlist affiliations illegally entering the US continues to be a concern for border agents.

Hezbollah, an Iran-backed terrorist group, has launched missiles into northern Israel following Hamas’ attack on October 7, resulting in casualties among IDF soldiers and civilians. Ebbadi’s motivation for fleeing Lebanon was to avoid taking lives, but he acknowledged that once you’re in, there’s no way out.

He lacked proper documentation upon entering the US, claiming they were stolen during his time in Costa Rica. Additionally, he admitted to using false information in Sweden, Ecuador (where he claimed his father resides), and Panama this year.

Originally aiming for New York, Ebbadi’s journey took a dangerous turn.

He is now in isolation and has been referred for an interview with the Tactical Terrorism Response Team (TTRT) due to his “terroristic threats to personnel.” While internal documents indicate his impending deportation from the US, the specific destination remains unclear.
