Man on Life Support After Brutal Punch Inside Times Square Subway Station

A 51-year-old man is on life support after a violent altercation inside the Times Square subway station on Wednesday evening, according to police sources.
The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. on the mezzanine level serving the N, Q, and R train lines at the 42nd Street–Times Square station. The victim reportedly became involved in a dispute with another man, which escalated quickly into physical violence.
During the confrontation, the assailant punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall backwards and strike his head on the ground, resulting in severe head trauma. It is not yet known if the two men were acquainted.

Emergency responders arrived to find the victim unconscious with facial injuries. He was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he remains in critical condition on life support in the intensive care unit.
The suspect fled the scene and has not yet been apprehended. He is described as a man with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a gray polo shirt, blue jeans, and carrying a black backpack.
Authorities have not yet determined what triggered the altercation. The investigation is ongoing.
