According to sportsbook data, the individual placed a staggering $8 million bet on June 5—the night of Game 1—backing the Thunder to win the NBA Finals at -700 odds. The wager returned $1,142,857.15, making it one of the largest single bets in legal U.S. sports betting history.

The high-stakes wager eclipsed other well-known bets, including a $3 million bet placed by Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale on the Houston Astros in 2022. Though the payout on the OKC bet was comparatively lower in terms of return-on-investment, the initial stake was significantly higher.
