The Senate suspended Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, for three months after he alleged that the 2024 budget was padded with N3 trillion.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the suspension, with the condition that Ningi could send an apology letter for the leadership to consider lifting the suspension.

The decision was reached during deliberations at the Committee of the Whole, following a point of order raised by Adeola Olamilekan, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations.

Ningi, Chairperson of the Northern Senators Forum, had recently stated to BBC Hausa that irregularities were discovered in the budget through the service of a private auditor.
