Southern California Woman Arrested for Fatally Stabbing Wife with Samurai Sword
A woman in Southern California has been arrested after allegedly stabbing her wife to death with a samurai sword.
The attack occurred on Thursday, July 18, in the 300 block of S. Huntington Ave, San Dimas, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a woman holding a sword and walking alone in the street. Video obtained by KTLA shows the woman dropping the alleged weapon after being approached by an officer.
During a press conference, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. Daniel Vizcarra stated that the woman, who had "numerous cuts and lacerations on her body," directed officers to a nearby residence. There, deputies found another woman, later identified as Chen Chen Fei, 47, suffering from lacerations. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lt. Vizcarra added that another woman was found inside the residence unharmed but was transferred to a local hospital due to a medical emergency.
The alleged attacker was identified as Fei’s wife, Weichien Huang, 44. Huang was arrested and booked for murder.
"Through investigation, investigators learned Huang and her wife, Fei, had an argument inside their residence. At some point, Huang attacked Fei with a sword," stated the update from the sheriff's department. "Fei’s mother was also attacked and severely injured; however, she managed to gain control of the sword and fled the residence seeking help." Fei’s mother remains in stable condition at a local hospital.
While the incident remains under investigation, San Dimas resident Trinh Garcia told KABC-TV that the women lived in the same home and typically kept to themselves. "They were quiet people, they only came out to get the mail, open the garage, take the trash out. Other than that, they were quiet people," she said. "We are shocked, we are stunned."
