The U.S. State Department has revoked the visa of a foreign student cited for criminal behavior in connection with protests supporting Hamas. The decision follows a recent pledge by the administration to take action against individuals involved in anti-Israel demonstrations on college campuses.

A State Department spokesperson confirmed the revocation, stating that the individual was a university student and that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would proceed with their removal from the country. The student's name, nationality, and institution were not disclosed due to legal constraints.

The move aligns with efforts to address campus disruptions linked to pro-Palestinian demonstrations. The administration has also announced plans to cut federal funding to educational institutions that permit unauthorized protests and has signaled an intention to withhold over $50 million in government contracts from Columbia University.

Additionally, the State Department is reportedly developing an artificial intelligence-based initiative, referred to as “Catch and Revoke,” to monitor the social media activity of foreign students on visas. The program aims to identify individuals expressing support for Hamas, which was designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. government following the October 7, 2023, attack.

Officials emphasized that individuals found supporting designated terrorist organizations could face visa denial, revocation, or deportation. The administration reiterated its stance that foreign visitors who support terrorism pose a threat to national security.
